We are very proud to announce that our founder and CEO – Ruth Fox – has recently been honoured with an MBE for her outstanding contribution to the local community.
On receiving this significant honour Ruth said, “I feel passionately about Redcar and Cleveland and the work we’ve achieved through Footprints. The MBE isn’t about me — it’s about our amazing team of trustees, staff and volunteers. If it helps
shine a spotlight on what we do, then I’m truly grateful.
shine a spotlight on what we do, then I’m truly grateful.
Ruth founded Footprints in the Community at the end of 2011 with a small cafe based in a church hall in Redcar. What started as a hobby then became the venue for the first Redcar Area Foodbank centre; each year adding more projects and growing into the charity it is today.
You can read more about the history of Footprints on the About Us page.
In a recent interview with Enhance Redcar & Cleveland, Ruth’s message to the VCSE sector is one of resilience, unity and purpose, “Redcar and Cleveland’s VCSE is full of passionate people committed to making a difference. Yes, there are challenges, funding is always tight, but together, we’re having a real impact. Hold on to your passion and keep working together.”
